My grandmother once gave me the advice, “Marriage isn’t 50-50; it’s 100-100.” Obviously she meant that marriage required giving 100%. As I reflected upon my failed marriage I realized marriage was sometimes 100-100 but more often it was 100-35 or 70-100. Marriage is about giving your best even when the other person isn’t. The Perspective of an Adulteress
Growing up, my church was on the extreme side of charismatic. I was immersed in Focus on the Family material. My favorite non-fiction authors were Dr James Dobson and Charles Swindoll. If anyone knew that adultery was wrong, it was me. My parents’ marriage deteriorated due to adultery. And yet, I was not prepared for how it can sneak up on you. Continue reading
Too Much Time on Our Hands
We’ve come a long way from 200 years ago. Overall, life is pretty easy for the majority of us. We don’t have to spend the bulk of our waking moments struggling for survival. Personally, I work about 40 hours a week, leaving about 112 hours to do with as I see fit. All this discretionary time has created new problems for society. Continue reading
